D'Influence - on Acid Jazz Records
Could have been, should have been, would have been – but weren’t! Many thought that the multi-talented D’Influence would go on to enjoy the level of success that Soul II Soul did just a couple of years earlier, but despite major label backing the band never quite got the recognition they deserved. Vocalist Sara Webb gave them their sultry soulful sound. They recorded just one single for Acid Jazz – the classic I’m The One – before moving on to East West where their opus, Good 4 We was released shortly after their arrival. The band produced work for many contemporary British R&B acts including Mark Morrison and Shola Ama, while Kwame Kwaten enjoyed a prolific career as a re-mixer and producer, even having the Rolling Stones and Jay-Z on his CV!
